Textbook of veterinary anatomy. In human anatomy, the cephalic vein is a superficial vein in the arm. It communicates with the basilic vein via the median cubital vein at the elbow and is located in the superficial fascia along the anterolateral surface of the biceps. Near the shoulder, the cephalic vein passes between the deltoid and pectoralis major muscles and through the clavipectoral triangle, where it empties into the axillary vein. The cephalic vein (Latin: vena cephalica) is one of the major superficial veins of the upper limb that begins from the dorsal venous network of the hand.
From there the vein ascends towards the cubital fossa, where it receives one of the branches corresponding to the median antebraquial vein. Synonyms for vena cephalica in Free Thesaurus. Antonyms for vena cephalica. 1 synonym for vena cephalica: cephalic vein.
